Former Cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya appointed Sri Lanka’s tourism brand ambassador
Recently the Tourism Ministry announced the appointment of a 22-member committee to help revive the local tourism sector. At a critical moment in Sri Lanka’s worsening economy, the Tourism Board of Sri Lanka has appointed former cricketing legend Sanath Jayasuriya as the brand ambassador of Sri Lankan Tourism. The industry being one of Sri Lanka’s quintessential income streams has now come up with a strategic plan to get the industry back and booming.
Focusing on tourist safety, leisure, and well-being it is no surprise that the Tourism Board turned to Mr Jayasuriya when the going gets tough. This is not the first time Jayasuriya has been expected to deliver on an international stage. Being one of the first few openers whose aggressiveness shook the cricketing world, Jayasuriya is also known for his immense patriotism.
Coupled with his experience as a professional sportsperson and being constantly on the move both locally and overseas, Jayasuriya would be a great fit to take on the responsibilities of the role. Sri Lanka needs people who embrace her to be the forerunners of the nation in all aspects – delivering on their promises of a better nation. We wish Mr Jayasuriya all the very best in helping better build Sri Lanka’s renowned brand of Tourism!
