Australia Tour of Sri Lanka

The Kangaroos from down under will make their way to Lankan soil after a very long wait. Australia’s itinerary for their first Sri Lanka tour since 2016 is set!

The tour will begin with 3 T20s on the 7th of June in two distinct regions of the nation. The first being the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the more western, buzzing district of the island. Second, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in the central and chilly highlands of Kandy.

The five ODIs will also take place in Colombo and Kandy interchangeably before moving onto Galle, the southern borders of the island nation, for the two World Test Championship matches.

An epic contest waits to be unfolded – will the young Lankan Lions repeat the 2016 heroics with a clean sweep in Tests? Will they be able to give the dominant Aussies an epic fight in the limited-overs fixtures, unlike the last time? Be there to find out firsthand.

Asia Cup 2022

It seemed like forever since the last edition, but it is back on the calendar this time around. Six of the world’s most Cricket crazy nations fight for glory to assert their supremacy in the sub-continental region! The Asia Cup is to take place in Sri Lanka starting the 24th of August to the 7th of September 2022.

The scoreboard so far – India at the top of the leaderboard, claiming 7 titles. Sri Lanka is not so far behind with 5 titles, and Pakistan at third place with 2 titles under their belt.

Will Bangladesh or Afghanistan get their counters up and running with a maiden win this year? Or will the qualifier surprise them all? No matter what the outcome might be, we’re pretty sure to witness some high voltage action and fierce showdowns that you would not want to miss out on during commercials.

Visit Sri Lanka in 2022 and Support the Nation

Regardless of the negativity that surrounds it, Cricket has always been the local’s escape in their toughest times. This was prevalent during the 30 year-long civil war, the horrendous boxing day Tsunami of 2004, floods, and all other turbulences. The LTTE and the Sri Lankan government, the two conflicting parties of the Sri Lankan civil war, had declared a ceasefire for the duration of the World Cup in 2007. This was the second time Sri Lanka appeared in a WC final after the 1996 WC, which had a fairytale ending for the distraught nation.

Despite all the excitement and heavy anticipation for the tours ahead, it is no surprise that Sri Lanka has yet another huge crisis at their hands. The country had been plunged into the worst economic crisis in its history by a poor parliament leadership and presidency.

Running low on foreign reserves, rocketing inflation rates, scarcity of fuel, food, medicine, and other essentials are plummeting Sri Lankans to their darkest times yet.

With all that comes the joy of Cricket – ready to give the locals a few more reasons to smile and cherish during these tough times. It is for these reasons that cricketing boards have decided to support Sri Lanka by bestowing them the status of touring hosts. That’s the same reason why all cricket fans should also join in on the good cause in supporting Sri Lanka.

If you are looking for a diverse experience during a short stay with some cricketing shenanigans along the way, then what more are you searching for? Take a trip to Sri Lanka this cricketing season before you’ll regret it!
