How to Volunteer at an elephant conservation sanctuary in Sri Lanka?

So you have decided to make Sri Lanka your next vacation destination, and you are thinking about volunteering at an elephant conservation sanctuary. Whether you are someone with veterinary medical experience or just like animals and wildlife, or enjoy volunteer work, volunteerism at an elephant conservation sanctuary is the best option.

Although elephants are the largest land animal on the planet, they are an endangered species. The Sri Lankan elephant has faced many threats in recent years. Land mines, loss of habitat, illegal poaching, and the never-ending human-elephant conflict appear to be the main threats to these majestic beasts which once roamed the island freely.

Why volunteer at an elephant conservation sanctuary?
